Start From Scratch - Private Lesson
Never been on a balance bike or pedal bike before? This is exactly where we start.
A one-on-one private lesson means your child gets our complete, undivided attention from the very first moment. No group dynamic, no comparisons, no waiting for others to catch up — just your child, their bike, and an instructor who goes entirely at their pace.
We start from the very beginning. Walking the bike, finding balance, those first tentative glides. No rushing, no pressure, no miracle promises. Our only goal is for your child to feel comfortable and confident on a bike — everything else follows naturally from there.
We provide lightweight premium bikes specifically designed to make learning easier. The right bike makes a bigger difference than most parents realize — and we make sure your child has the right one from the start.
Some children surprise everyone in their very first session. Others need a few lessons to find their rhythm. Both are completely normal and both are welcome here. This is their journey and we follow their lead.
This lesson is also our first choice for children with anxiety, sensory sensitivities, or special needs. One-on-one means we can adapt every drill, every transition, and every moment of the session entirely around your child — no compromises.
First Pedals Private Lesson
Your child can glide — feet up, balanced, moving independently. Now it’s time for the next step.
That leap from gliding to pedaling is one of the trickiest and most exciting moments in learning to ride. It feels like it should be simple — but connecting the push, finding the second pedal, and keeping the momentum going all at once takes a specific kind of practice. That’s exactly what this session is designed for.
One-on-one means we focus entirely on your child. No distractions, no group pace to keep up with — just targeted, patient instruction on the exact skills they need right now.
We work through the pedaling sequence progressively — starting from a standing push, moving to push-and-coast, then connecting both pedals and building from there. We go at your child’s pace and celebrate every small breakthrough along the way.
Bring your own bike or use one of ours. We use lightweight premium bikes that make the pedaling motion feel natural rather than effortful — because a heavy bike makes everything harder than it needs to be.
Please note: This session is designed for children who can already glide independently with both feet off the ground for at least 3 seconds. If your child isn’t quite there yet — our Start from Scratch private lesson is the right starting point.
Group Ride & Learn Class
Your child can already glide. Now let’s put it all together — in good company.
Our Group Ride & Learn class is a small group session for children who’ve already mastered the basics of balance and are ready to build real riding skills alongside other kids at a similar level. Maximum 3 children per class — small enough that every child still gets genuine individual attention, fun enough that the group energy becomes part of the learning.
We work on pedaling, steering, stopping confidently, and the kind of real-world riding skills that turn a glider into a genuine cyclist. Drills are structured but feel like games — races, obstacle courses, challenges that keep kids engaged and progressing without it feeling like work.
The group dynamic adds something a private session can’t — a little friendly motivation, the joy of riding alongside someone else, and the confidence boost of seeing other kids figuring it out too.
Bring your own bike or use one of ours. We provide lightweight premium bikes for children who need one.
Please note: This class requires that your child can already glide independently with both feet off the ground for at least 3 seconds. Children who aren’t yet at this stage will get much more from our private sessions first — and will be ready for group classes sooner than you’d think.
Confidence Ride — Guided Session
Your child can ride. Now let’s go somewhere.
The Confidence Ride is for children who are already riding independently and are ready to take it beyond the parking lot. Local paths, gentle trails, real terrain — guided by an instructor who rides alongside them, introduces new challenges at the right moment, and makes the whole experience feel like an adventure rather than a lesson.
This isn’t instruction — it’s guided exploration. We work on the skills that turn a competent rider into a confident one. Riding in a straight line, navigating turns, handling slight inclines, riding alongside others, stopping quickly when needed. The kind of things that only come with real miles under the wheels.
Sessions take place on local paved paths and light trails in the Round Rock and Austin area. Locations are confirmed with each family based on what’s nearby and accessible for them.
Available as a standalone session or as part of our monthly riding membership — which includes a premium Woom or Prevelo bike kept at your home between sessions so your child can practice anytime, not just on ride days.
This session is for: Children who can already ride independently and want to build confidence, stamina, and enjoyment on real terrain. If your child is still working on balance or pedaling — our private sessions are the right starting point, and this is where they’ll end up once they get there.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should my child bring?
Helmet, comfortable clothes, and closed toe shoes and bike (in case you have one). If your child does not have own bike – please let us know we will bring bike for you. If you don’t have helmet, you can purchase on our website here and we will have it ready for you on the day of class.
Where exactly is the class?
Current classes are held at school parking lots in east Round Rock area depending on availability. Exact location is always confirmed with email sent shortly after class booking.
What if it rains?
We’ll contact you 24 hours in advance if we need to reschedule due to weather. Your spot carries over to the next available date automatically.
What if my child needs more time?
Most kids need 2-3 sessions to ride fully independently — that’s completely normal. We have classes available every weekend so your child can keep progressing at their own pace.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours before your class for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the class will receive a credit towards a future session. To cancel please reply to your confirmation email or email us at info@bikeandgrow.com
Do parents need to stay during the class?
Yes — at least one parent or guardian must be present for the entire duration of the class. We find that familiar faces actually help kids feel more confident and comfortable during their first riding experience. Plus you won’t want to miss the moment it clicks!
What bikes do you use in the class if we don't have our own bike?
We use premium Prevelo or Woom bikes — the lightest kids bikes available, specifically designed to make learning easier and faster. The right size bike makes a huge difference in how quickly a child gains confidence. We’ll have the perfect size ready based on your child’s age and height provided at booking.
How many children are in each class?
We keep it to a maximum of 3 children per session. This isn’t a big group class — it’s personal, focused instruction where every child gets individual attention. That’s intentional and it’s why our kids make real progress in every session.
My child is nervous or had a bad experience on a bike before — is this class right for them?
Absolutely — nervous kids are exactly who we designed this for. We go at your child’s pace, there’s no pressure, and small group sizes mean nobody gets left behind or feels embarrassed.
