First Time Riders Class
Never touched a balance bike or pedal bike before? Perfect — that’s exactly who this class is for.
We start from scratch and keep it simple. No rushing, no pressure, no miracle promises. Our only goal is for your child to have fun and walk away feeling good about being on a bike. The foundational skills — balance, confidence, and those first exciting glides — will come naturally when a child feels safe and supported.
We keep it to a maximum of 3 kids per class. Not because we have to — because we want to. Every child deserves individual attention, not a number in a group.
Bring your own bike or let us sort one out for you. We use lightweight premium bikes that are specifically designed to make learning easier — because the right bike makes a bigger difference than most parents realize.
We follow your child’s pace. Some kids surprise everyone in the first session. Others need a few classes to find their groove. Both are completely normal and both are welcome here.
First Time Riders Class
Can your child glide on a balance bike but hasn’t quite cracked pedaling yet? This is the class for them.
That leap from gliding to pedaling is one of the trickiest moments in learning to ride — and one of the most exciting when it finally clicks. We focus on making that transition feel natural rather than frustrating. Pedaling technique, braking, and building the confidence to do it all independently.
We keep it to a maximum of 3 kids per class. Same reason as always — every child deserves focused attention, not a turn in a queue.
Bring your own bike or use one of ours. We’ll make sure the fit is right before we even start — because a bike that’s the wrong size makes everything harder than it needs to be.
No pressure on timelines. Some kids pedal independently within the first session. Others need a couple of classes to put it all together. We follow your child’s lead and celebrate every small win along the way.
The goal isn’t just to get them pedaling — it’s to get them excited about riding.
Frequently Asked Questions
What should my child bring?
Helmet, comfortable clothes, and closed toe shoes and bike (in case you have one). If your child does not have own bike – please let us know we will bring bike for you. If you don’t have helmet, you can purchase on our website here and we will have it ready for you on the day of class.
Where exactly is the class?
Current classes are held at George Wagner Middle School parking lot (1621 Rockride Ln, Georgetown TX, 78626)
What if it rains?
We’ll contact you 24 hours in advance if we need to reschedule due to weather. Your spot carries over to the next available date automatically.
What if my child needs more time?
Most kids need 2-3 sessions to ride fully independently — that’s completely normal. We have classes available every weekend so your child can keep progressing at their own pace.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours before your class for a full refund. Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the class will receive a credit towards a future session. To cancel please reply to your confirmation email or email us at info@bikeandgrow.com
Do parents need to stay during the class?
Yes — at least one parent or guardian must be present for the entire duration of the class. We find that familiar faces actually help kids feel more confident and comfortable during their first riding experience. Plus you won’t want to miss the moment it clicks!
What bikes do you use in the class if we don't have our own bike?
We use premium Woom or Trek bikes — the lightest kids bikes available, specifically designed to make learning easier and faster. The right size bike makes a huge difference in how quickly a child gains confidence. We’ll have the perfect size ready based on your child’s age and height provided at booking.
How many children are in each class?
We keep it to a maximum of 3 children per session. This isn’t a big group class — it’s personal, focused instruction where every child gets individual attention. That’s intentional and it’s why our kids make real progress in every session.
My child is nervous or had a bad experience on a bike before — is this class right for them?
Absolutely — nervous kids are exactly who we designed this for. We go at your child’s pace, there’s no pressure, and small group sizes mean nobody gets left behind or feels embarrassed.
